For the 4th annual year running, this year, the Drop of The Year Awards event took place at the W Hotel, a prestigious 5* Hotel located within the central London’s dynamic Westend on the 10th January 2018. The dedicated awards event embraced the sneaker community to unite and discuss the industry’s hottest sneaker of the year, whilst networking and celebrating the sneaker culture and enjoying a champagne reception throughout the night.

Hosted by the infamous King of Trainers (@KingofTrainers) alongside a panellist of industry enthusiasts from the likes of sneaker connoisseur Kish Kash (@KishKash1), sneaker historian Chris (@thewordonthefeet), the amazing female sneaker head Tasha (@Crep_t) and founder of a female blog collective @Yanildn/@bigeyeslittlesoles, the event escalated into a culture gathering conversation discussing the good and the bad drops of the year, the best footwear collaboration, best collaborator, best accessory all the way through to the “peoples choice” drop of the year which seemed to have people heavily debating trainers. The event also previewed the 1st UK sneaker culture documentary "The Sole Seekers Film" which was a big hit throughout the night and was screened in the cinema room for guests to watch.

I was fortunate enough to help out upon this event, working across gathering sneaker heads votes for the “peoples choice” of the hottest drop of the year at one of the biggest industry conventions Sneaker Con whilst raising event awareness. Upon the event day, my assistance needed by managing guests upon arrival and helping with event set-up/take down.
This event set out to be a success whilst uniting the sneaker society together from all parts of London and Europe. No one couldn’t have hosted the event better other than the King himself. Round 5 next year!? HELL YES!
